Thomas was the name of a pirate, most likely second in command, to Markham, Captain William, long before the Mechanists came to Markham's Isle.
He wrote to Captain Markham about killing the Lighthouse Keeper, Nathaniel, and how the crew wished to rename the isle after Captain Markham himself.[1]
