The rules and guidelines of the Thief: The Dark Wiki. Please follow them whenever you edit or discuss the contents of this wiki with other fellow contributors.
- Rule 1: Please keep it civil. Do not make personal attacks on other people. If you need to criticize another user’s argument, do so without attacking them as a person. Do not use bigoted language, including slurs which degrade another person or group of people based on gender, race, sexual orientation, nationality, religion, etc.
- Rule 2: Be a productive member of the wiki. Contribute to the wiki in line with the established processes and conventions. Need help? Ask an administrator! Disrupting the wiki with “edit warring” over differing opinions of a topic with another user or group of users is not productive.
- Rule 3: As a contributor, do not engage in excessive self-promotion. The wiki is a collaborative community resource for the topic at hand. It is NOT a free place to advertise your related website, YouTube channel, blog, social media account, etc. Have a question about whether your link would be welcome? Ask an administrator!
- Rule 4: Do not harass other users. If somebody asks you to stop posting certain content on their wall, respect their wishes. It is their wall.
- Rule 5: Do follow community guidelines for formatting. When a community has established formatting, it’s important to adhere to that, especially when spoiler content is involved.
- Rule 6: Content unrelated to the Thief series and plagiarised content does not belong here. This wiki should be focused entirely and solely on the Thief trilogy (by Looking Glass Studios and Ion Storm Austin) and the output of the series' fan community, including fan-made missions, fan fiction and fan art. Everything you write on this wiki needs to be your own work, and if you are citing anyone as a contributor to the wiki, or citing an excerpt written by someone else, you must clearly state so to the readers of the wiki.
- Rule 7: Do not threaten legal or other action. Do not threaten any staff member or contributor to Thief: The Dark Wiki with legal action or any other threats. This is an extension of basic civil behaviour on this wiki and our zero tolerance towards any harassment.
