Scope[]
What is the Thief Wiki? Is it only an encyclopedia for the Thief series of games? -- Drtomjenkins
- Moved to Thief_Wiki:About -- Tom Jenkins (Reply) 05:46, 22 August 2009 (UTC)
Of course. Massimilianogoi (talk) 14:35, January 15, 2013 (UTC)
A little late to the convo :p Big McLargeHuge (talk) 16:05, January 15, 2013 (UTC)
Lol. Better late than never, as people says here Massimilianogoi (talk) 01:46, January 16, 2013 (UTC)
Game Icons[]
I agree, I think we could probably straighten things out though, I like what Wookieepedia does with era's and real world articles. We could have the Trickster's 3rd eye to represent TDP, a gear for TMA, the door glyph for T3, then something like their 'Real-world' category for any pure data which hasn't been written in an encyclopaedic form. --Hexhunter -- Deus X Machina 13:56, 26 March 2009 (UTC)
- I notice Dr. Tom has been busy preparing icons today. Please feel free to try and test what you have in mind using some of those, or make and upload your own. It sounds very interesting, but I'm having trouble picturing exactly what you mean, you see. --Larris 16:25, 26 March 2009 (UTC)
- I tried to make the templates, but I can't figure it out, maybe one of you can try it out. Wookieepedia put [1] in the top line of every article. [2] is the template which contains the icons used within the 1st template. For an example of how they are used see [3], they also list what details are stored in the template here [4]. --Hexhunter -- Deus X Machina 18:17, 30 March 2009 (UTC)
Front page[]
Nice work on the edited front page. It really improves the quality of the site, for me - aesthetics is important enough, in this case.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Solabusca (talk • contribs)
If you(or anyone) have any ideas for different colors(text,highlighting,background....) let me know. The Blue is from the "default gaming" , I think it suits thief, but the brown, I'm not so sure, I just picked it to get rid of the yellow. I'm also still screwing around with formatting, nothing seems to want to align where I want it to.Sxerks 02:10, 6 August 2008 (UTC)
A suggestion for the random picture section: shouldn't we take this out? In my opinion it's rather strange to have images from TDS mobile or the city map project (those colored maps) on the first page of the wiki. If there is a random function, I would prefer a random article function, lets say a list of 5 random chosen articles? What's your opinion? Thehoosh 23:50, 28 November 2008 (UTC)
- I doubt it can be done here, yet I know it's possible if the code can be written, but it would be cool if the random pictures could link to the articles they are used in, and if they haven't been applied to an article, then default to the images' File pages. Also, if images could be flagged to NOT show up on the front page, it would be less quirky and SO random that it's not at least amusing. Ehcmier 02:38, 30 April 2009 (UTC)Ehcmier
- It uses Extension:RandomImage which hasn't been updated since 2007, not a lot of options.--Sxerks 03:25, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
Categories[]
I've undone the changes in the "items weapons tools" categorie that someone (can't remember the name) made. The reasons are simple:
Why have I turned "Arrows" into "Ranged Weapons"?:
- there are other ranged weapons which are no arrows, nor explosives nor thrown equipement, like the crossbow darts or the sawblades from turrets as well as the gun shots from combat bots and turrets, therefor "Ranged Weapons"
Why did I remove the "thrown equipment" and what's with the explosivs?:
- you don't throw mines, you lay them ;)
- all the bombs Garrett uses are steam punk kinds of hand granades, therefor explosivs and you don't need to throw them, think of the Flash Bomb...it's best to simple let the bomb fell were you stand and turn around or let it fell while you're running
I think a depth of 3 in the category tree is enough. Further subdivisons just produce to much redundancy in my opinion

Colors[]
Can we have this light blue color (#C2E6ED) for the user-name links at the top which are currently brown? The color is similar to the T3 loot highlight. -- Drtomjenkins 22 March 2009 (UTC)
- hows that look? You can use a nice tool for Firefox called Firebug to preview different colors.--Sxerks 02:58, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
- The color is similar to the T3 loot highlight. I previewed it in a graphic program, against the top blue city back and it contrasts nicely. If you could please change the site CSS / whatever. Thanks -- Drtomjenkins 06:48, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
- I did it already when I posted the last message, your need to refresh Ctrl-F5 or something to see the change.--Sxerks 14:02, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks! It looks so cool. And at last you can actually SEE the username-watchlist-etc text!! -- Drtomjenkins 01:36, 23 March 2009 (UTC)
Colors 2[]
If you could please change the color for External links like this to #A8C4F7, it would make them as visible as internal links like this, though it preserves the royal blue shade, making it just as easy to differentiate between internal/external links.
I have tested it side by side with an internal link and it looks perfect. Thank you -- Drtomjenkins 06:25, 18 April 2009 (UTC)
- I like the idea of different colours for internal and external links; however, that blue is too dark. It should be lightened, and if it's not different enough, given a liiittle more red, or something. Ehcmier 06:57, 18 April 2009 (UTC)Ehcmier
- Exactly what I've done. Lightened the dark blue yet keeping the shades differentiable. Standing by to Sxerks' CSS update! -- Drtomjenkins 07:36, 18 April 2009 (UTC)
- These are "inter-wiki" links wikipedia.
- These are internal Thief: The Dark Wiki.
- These are external wikipedia.com (single brackets and giant box with arrow).
- --Sxerks 14:59, 18 April 2009 (UTC)
- Exactly, I meant to say please change the color for inter-wiki links! My apologies for my error. -- Drtomjenkins 01:29, 19 April 2009 (UTC)
- changed to #678FD5. #A8C4F7 was to light, looked almost white like the text. #3366BB (default) stood out on my displays just fine.--Sxerks 17:07, 19 April 2009 (UTC)
- Pretty cool! Looks just fine. -- Drtomjenkins 01:13, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
Colors 3[]
It might be a stupid question, but is it possible to change the colors of the wiki somewhere in my preferences (apparently I'm blind). To be honest, this new blue/purple does really hurt my eyes after looking at it for several minutes. Thehoosh 20:32, May 23, 2010 (UTC)
- preferences -> skins, it's still being worked on though.--Sxerks 21:08, May 23, 2010 (UTC)
Halp[]
Can somebody, who has Thief 2 and can run it (not me), someone who is familiar with T2 editing (not me), and someone who is up to date with contests, new missions and the goings on of TTLG (not me) update the main page with contests and new FMs? I can try but I have no clue what the heck a 'New Dark' is. Big McLargeHuge (talk) 01:16, September 27, 2013 (UTC)
The Randy Smith comment[]
Foolish non-believers. You underestimate our powers of anal-retention. We've been working with the same map of The City for 3 games now. It was already there in 1997 when I joined The Dark Project. | ||

Who was the persons who Randy told this? And why he told it? Massimilianogoi (talk) 22:57, December 4, 2013 (UTC)

Thanks![]
Supremcee and I thank you for the re-linking on the front page to his preferred "Inside At Last" podcast URLs.
