Sam Swarthy is the owner of The Undercurrent, a Black Market in the Docks district of The City. He has a thing against dirt and germs and seems to have poor people skills.[1] He even believed the talk of a zombie ship was really to cover-up the fact of the plague. He is currently working on a motto for this store.

- Unlike most of Thief, the talk of the plague is probably the Black Death (Yersinia Pestis, which takes the form of three forms, the most known being 'bubonic plague'), where as most of Thief, the Plague refers to whatever created Zombies during the Catastrophe (referred to in DS as the 'Cataclysm')
