For the building, see Fort Ironwood.

I could tell you where it is, but that would spoil all the fun...

This page contains spoilers! Read on your own peril.

The Hammerite stronghold in Old Quarter. If Garrett is allied with the Hammerites he is permitted to enter the fort without penalty but otherwise they will attack him on sight.

When the fort is first entered trough the main door a coffin with Alfred Hurley body and his sister Alyssa Hurley can be seen. It is possible to first go in the graveyard which appears to be normal but if the building is entered the zombies will appear. The catacombs below can be reached trough a staircase but is haunted with zombies and Haunts but at least one Keeper Door Glyph can be found there as well as a map of the Shalebridge Cradle. Upstairs can a Healing Font and Holy Water Flasks be found.

Objectives[]

Walkthrough[]

Side Quest[]

The Hammerites are trying to bury the body of Alfred Hurley but because of his (hidden) friendship with a pagan shaman has caused the shaman to resurrect the Undead in the graveyard outside stopping the burial from happening.

As long as Alfred Hurley is not buried zombies will reappear in the graveyard. This can be stopped by aiding a pagan shaman by shooting the pagan cornerstone in the graveyard or stealing the wand of the shaman (or possibly murdering him) aiding the Hammerites. It is also possible to do both gaining faction status with both of them or simply ignore the whole situation.

Place The Builder’s Chalice on the Cataclysm Memorial in the graveyard before you leave

Day 1-9[]

Fort Ironwood and it's surroundings will become available from Day 6 after you escape from the Keeper Compound and find yourself in the Old District within which Fort Ironwood is situated.

Secrets[]

  • A hatch in the second floor ceiling opens onto a section of the roof, where there are two Jade Goblets and a boiler containing a fire crystal. This is also the home of a Rust Mite.

Easter Eggs[]

Note[]

  • It is not sure which way but it is possible to bring the zombies and Hammerites together by either luring the zombies inside or making the Hammerites go outside after which they start to fight each other.
  • Not tried: at a later point in the game during Gamall's attack the statues where going at it hammer and tongs and basically ignored Garrett. If the zombie issue is not sorted out it is possible to find Gamall and her statues doing the same with the zombies in the Graveyard which might provide a handy distraction while placing the Builder's Chalice on Day 9.
  • (From an edit done by Vito Black): Probably the most noteworthy so called 'Secret' would be the Statues attack the Undead. But since the undead cant die from there attacks it might be a way to shake off most of them.

Trivia[]

  • Within the Fort Ironwood crypts lie the tombs of Bernard Farkus (killed at the beginning of Assassins in Thief: The Dark Project), and Ramirez (appearing in the same mission). Ramirez's epitaph is 'Loved his burricks.' Lord Bafford's sister was interred here as well. There is also a crypt (E. Dowerty) that represents a developer that was interviewed but not hired.[1]
  • In a small room connected to the catacombs can be found a severed head in an indestructible bell jar.
  • When you first come across Fort Ironwood, if you head straight into the Graveyard area there are no zombies. You will find a hole in the ground (a freshly dug grave basically) and can wander about quite freely. Once you go inside and interact with things such as the notices and listen to the the various conversations and mutterings of the woman at the altar, the zombies will appear (I am not sure exactly what the trigger is though).
