...already I have been called off to some new special duty by another missive from one of the Children. I shall finish this account when I return.
Manus' last words
Manus was a member of the Mechanists that worked at Soulforge Cathedral and possibly also at the sub aquatic outposts underneath Markham's Isle.[1][2]
A worried entry in her journal can be found in the final Thief II: The Metal Age mission "Sabotage at Soulforge." Karras had called Manus to his chamber and instructed her to collect more beggars and vagrants for transformation into Masked Servants. When questioned on this matter, Karras said that the Builder's Children did not have the dexterity that a person has. Manus suggested that he simply have his followers do the required tasks. Karras, misinterpreting her words, was in a rage when suddenly became calm "as though some truth had just occurred to him." Manus was then sent away. Her suggestion doomed a number of her comrades (and probably herself) to servitude and eventual death.[1][3][4]
Notes[]
- Her reply "our supply of Necrotic Mutox gas containers is gone" about Karras requesting to make more Masked Servants makes it clear that she knows the servants contained Necrotic Mutox gas containers.[1]
- The French version of quote M16B42 in the mission "Sabotage at Soulforge", makes it clear that Manus is a woman. ("m'a boulerversée", "m'a fortement réprimandée", "Amie Manus").
Trivia[]
- Inspired by Friend Ventus' unfortunate accident, she invented the Non-Slip Mat and installed it in various locations around Markham's Isle and on board the Cetus Amicus.[2]
