The Hammerite Guards are the main body of the Order of the Hammer and are encountered everywhere the Hammerites reside. They are brutal fighters and are quite vigilant and organized. The hammer they carry deals more damage than the swords carried by most other opponents.

The Hammer Guard is considered a top rank human warrior for a number of reasons. He has more hit points than the majority of human enemies, his attack speed is also faster, he is much more aware of his surroundings, and also tends to patrol and attack in groups.

It is important to be aware of their attack speed, as they can deliver 2 or 3 strikes in a matter of seconds, unlike regular guards that tend to hesitate before strike.

For these reasons it is advisable even on low difficulty levels to avoid direct confrontations with the Hammerite Guards, and instead to attack them from distance or from shadow.

Hammerite warriors can kill Zombies. Unlike all the other npcs (except Mechanists), the blessed holy hammer can cause permanent damage to the undead. The only place where the Hammerite Guard has contact with the undead are in Cragscleft Prison, and St. Edgar's Church.

Thief: Deadly Shadows[]

These Hammerite Guards seem to act even more aggressively towards intruders. In addition they can be blessed by Hammerite Priests to become stronger and able to attack the Undead. Because of this, extra care needs to be taken when guards and priests appear together.
