Thief: Deadly Shadows and The Dark Mod fan mission updates
Hello, taffers.
This March, I'm doing some long-overdue updates to the fan mission overviews for Thief: Deadly Shadows and The Dark Mod.
TDS fan mission documentation on the wiki has gotten fairly scarce and increasingly out of date, especially in more recent years. I felt this is the ideal time to catch up with all the FM developments for the game - particularly when we now have great improvements to the game thanks to the wonderful effort of the Sneaky Upgrade project team - and it's also useful and necessary to do this for archival purposes, particularly when it comes to screenshots or walkthroughs. It's better to have them on multiple websites (rather than just a single one, or at most, two).
The updates to The Dark Mod fan mission overviews …
Garrett, the grinch that stole, everything...
I have always wondered, how does Garrett carry all that loot without breaking his back, damaging the goods or making noise? Oh yah, He got hold of Saint Niche's christmas bag when the jolly fellow made his annual coal delivery to Garretts apartment. Which begs how come there isn't a cannon explanation or is there one. Are us aging players expected to just accept the fantastic contradictions? The mechanical Eye was explain well enough in T1, TG/T2 showed us how Garrett could learn magic and clerical stuff.
Anyway, Garrett is near 50 by now, yet he is ageless in his ability to leap ledges and other things. OK, 'suspension of belief' of time passage; but lets be real as players, I can barely do the key and mouse work required of some missions.…
Finding objects(Treasure & Equipment)
The first couple years of playing I came across the 'Dromed Tool: Object Hierarchy'. I figured out the basics of where these objects can be found ingame, in case I missed some treasure; which is tallied for you ingame. Equipment items(obj: Tulz) are not tallied so this Tool was a godsend.
Through the years, a new Treasure Tool, LazyTaffer(aka lootlist.exe) was developed that does a lot of organizing for the curious minded. The player still needs to load FMs into Dromed to find the visual clues to its ingame location. This leaves us with the old method to find Equipment items.
Exporting the Query from 'Object Hierarchy', produces an overly detailed mess but searching for the word "position" will take you to the top of the listings of object l…
TDS Gameplay
Many of these have been discovered using the Xbox version (on Xbox 360, no less) so I can't guarantee that they'll all work with other versions.
- 1 The Miracle of Chairs
- 2 Jousting
- 3 Asbestos Fires
- 4 Levitation
- 5 The Streets of Untold Riches
- 6 Reality Transcension
- 7 Pile Driving
A high-backed chair is the nearest thing to a forklift in TDS. Just about anything movable can be pushed around easily by ramming the legs of a wooden chair into it. This is because of the chair's shape: If Garrett runs against the seat while standing on the backrest, his running speed is increased by the chair's movement, giving him more power (the same physics used in the Flintstone car).
The ideal type is a simple wooden one with no armrests. This type of chair is also the exact…
Just another player
I am not new at this game so I have already finished the first of the series and would like to know if there are any secrets I may have missed in one of the levels? (please keep in mind I played Thief Gold not Thief: the Dark Age) [User:Mills1425j]] (talk)

Thief 4 Headed to Next-Gen Consoles?
For those who haven't heard, the long-awaited Thief 4 is, according to various sources, in development for the XBOX 720 and Playstation 4 (as well as the PC) for a possible 2013 release. Details are still scarce, aside from the release of a short trailer believed to be a test (not necessarily a teaser) and a dev's resume mentioning his work on the project.
If Thief 4 is indeed on the horizon, let's just hope they can come up with a better title than Thi4f...

New Fan Misson Page Editing Tools
The Fan Mission Pages just got easier to edit, with the introduction of Semantic Forms. now when you create a new Fan Mission page or edit an existing one, there will be forms to fill in at the top of the page instead of boring wiki-code.
Take a look here or on a page
The Bot just converted 869 pages to the new format, so there are some "fields" that have bad info in.
Thief and Fallout 3
Thief and Fallout 3 seem to have some paralells.
Emil Pagliarulo designed Thief, working at Looking Glass Studios and Ion Storm Austin. He is now the lead designer of Fallout 3 at Bethesda Game Studios. Emil on the Fallout wikia.
Stephen Russell, who voices Benny etc etc, takes over the reigns of Fallout's most beloved character, Harold. The voice that Russell uses is very similar to that of bennys, if you could imagine benny rooted to the ground for years. Russell on the Fallout wikia.
Deadly Shadows and Fallout utilize a lockpick minigame, where the lock is isolated from the door, infront of a blurry background. In the case of F3, it is a bobby pin and screwdriver.
There is a 'superhero' called The Mechanist, who tries to use his robots for g…

First time seeing Gammal's demon-like form
Skipping to the near end of my Thief journey seeing Gamall for the thing she really was. I had just finished freaking out about walking statues, that can only be killed by a blackjack (even then it was pretty loud), when suddenly I see a huge, bulbous, red thing with a human head and fire arrows for eyes! Upon closer examination I saw it was much like Gammal in the cut scene so I concluded it was she. I hid while listening to her raspy voice and watching her pace back in forth. Thinking swiftly I readied a noisemaker arrow and shot. First she looked straight in my direction. Thinking see would charge at me I quickly jumped on a wall (lucky me I had climbing gloves). I waited for a few minutes then dropped back down. I noticed she wasn't lo…
This Site Is Amazing
Aww man Thief was one of my first pc games I ever played, along with those classics like Commandos, Desperados, and Age of Empires 2 to name a few.
This game definitely has a place in my heart because I played it so much, I remember playing the dark project when I was really young (Must've been like 8 years ago.), and I would not continue past Lord Bafford's Manor because of the "RLY SCERY ZOMBIS THT R IMPOESEBLE @ KELL D:" and because I just loved going into the castle lol. I mean I still remember quotes from the guards and I haven't played TDP for at least a year or two now , and that first level never got old I played it for hours so I think that says something about the game although I did eventually play through the game and it was to…
Uh Oh.
I'm getting close to Shalebridge Cradle! I looked at a video's comments on Shalebridge Cradle and everyone was saying it was really scary...

Dark Thief: Full Theft Consequences
Dark Thief: Full Theft Consequences
blatantly plagarized by: Big McLargeHuge
Barrett who was Garretts brother was one day in an building writing on a paper. He got an letter from his brother that said that zombies and monsters were attacking his place and aksed him for help so he went.
Barrett put his letter down and wet on the platform to go up to the roof of the building where he left his mecanistmotorcycle and normal people close because he was in his thief stuff. Barrett got on his motorcycl and said "its time for me to live up to my family name and face full theft consequences" so he had to go.
Barrett ramped off the building and did a backflip and landed. He kept driving down the road and made sure there was no zombies around because he …
My history with TDS.
Hey readers! I gonna start out telling you about my first time seeing a thief game: I woke up one Saturday morning oblivious to everything exept what I saw in my backyard, friends house, mother's kitchen, and a small stable (I lived in a rural area back then). While my dad was coming home I noticed something he was holding. I could not read so I did not know it was a Xbox. I went back outside wondering about that strange box. When I came back in my dad had the Xbox set up and he was playing on it. I ignored him and the Xbox for three months soon after those months I started watching my father play. I didn't understand what was going on until I watched him play for three weeks For about an hour a week. One morning after waking up and starin…
New FM namespace
I had the staff add a new namespace "FM:" and I moved all the fan missions there. You will notice it when you do an advanced search, you can separate FM content out of searches now. I also moved FM lootlists and walkthroughs to subpages "/"so they get an automatic "back" link. And since we use categories as articles, I had the staff add category pages as "content" so that is why the number of articles jumped up above 3000.
Like the Keeper Archives...
I work here. Seriously. 80 rows, 15 feet high, millions of files. Millions. Aaaaaand I have to move them, all of them, in boxes, by hand. Then stack them on pallets. By hand. It's like the Keepers and the Hammerites have joined forces. Yeah, goin through the Keeper Archives for transport, whilst Father Deboles drunk ass is beating me over the head.
The idea on how to fit the FALLEN HAMMERS mission in thief 2 gold
This is my own opinion about how to make this mission into the Thief 2 Gold after a few brainstorm on how to fit this mission into it without downgrading the plot of this story but just need a little changes in the Sabotage at Soulforge mission. As we all know that in The Fallen Hammers mission,Garrett went to an old hammerite church searching the information about Karras and the order.Looking Glass planned that Garrett receive an item to defeat Karras at the old church, right? So,let we assume that the old church was abandoned, and Garrett went to search information for Garrett and accidentally found a secret chamber in the old church where the Karras' plans, scriptures and the blueprint of the rust gas plans. So,the further Garret venture, the…
Awaiting Thief 4
I cannot imagine the scale of upgrades this Wiki will require when Thief 4 is released. Maybe we could begin my preparing lists of the new Characters, Objects, Loot,Weapons and Gameplay features, and consolidate all of that together for review. Then contributor by contributor may begin writing about any selected topic, so we eventually hope of keeping up with the sudden explosion of canon. But at the end of the day, we'll be able to sit back and enjoy our own Wiki creations, our humble tribute to the universe of Thief. And whats more, it'll be fun! -- Tom Jenkins (Reply) 01:20, 4 July 2009 (UTC)
