The Astronomer or Star Gazer (real name unknown), was an astronomer and amateur scientist who lived and worked in a loft in South Dayport and had apparently discovered a new planet or moon.[1] Feeling that The City was filthy, corrupt, and filled with religious fanaticism, he desired to abandon the city and explore this distant globe.
Having little understanding of flight or aerodynamics, the astronomer's dreams of interplanetary travel were dubious at best. He planned to launch a test pilot to the new world by detonating a Sunburst Device underneath a thick wooden Crate.
His assistant and first test pilot, Brellick, died after crashing on the plaza's great statue presumed to be caused by forgetting to add a protective layer of lead on the crate. It is not known what will happen to his second test pilot, Hilde, as the astronomer was trying to redo the test flight but she likely would ended up suffering a similar fate.[2]

- The Sunburst Device in his loft is the only thing that can blast trough the door of Castle Carlysle and the front door of Angelwatch. (Castle Carlysle can also be unlocked by taking the key from a guest in Angelwatch.)
